Yashtimadhu is a traditional prophylactic agent for gastric and duodenal ulcers. It is also effective in acidity, dyspepsia, and other related problems. It alleviates the irritating effects of acids in a better way than alkalies. Yashtimadhu being a demulcent and expectorant, it is also employed in the treatment of cough and horseness of voice.
